Wedang uwuh is made from natural spices
Wedang uwuh is a drink with ingredients in the form of leaves similar to garbage. In Javanese, wedang means drink, while uwuh means trash, but it's not really garbage, that's because this drink is made from various types of leaves and spices that are intentionally not pureed, so it looks like a drink with garbage in it.
Wedang uwuh served hot or warm has a sweet and spicy taste with a bright red color and a strong aroma of spices inside.
The spicy taste is due to the ginger, while the red color is due to the sappan wood. Wedang uwuh is a typical drink from Yogyakarta.
It is said that the story of this wedang uwuh became a typical drink of the kings in the Imogiri area, Bantul, Yogyakarta.
